agactual asked:

I am trying to get student loans through the government, for grad school, and I am not sure what is going on with my income status. My parents wanted me to fill out all of my future student loans on my own. They didn’t want to get involved anymore.

In the FAFSA it asked me to state how much money I made in 2008, which was $0. I didn’t have a job while I was finishing my last year as an undergrad. I paid most of my bills with student loans and money that I had saved up from a previous job. So it says that I am a low income student.

The problem is that while I made $0 last year and will probably only make $4000 this year, my parents, whom I still live with and may still claim me as a dependent, make a combined $100,000 a year. Even though I do pay most of my bills and make very little money, would I be lose the aid i was awarded or have to start the whole process over again, because of how much my parents make?

Create a video blog…instantly.

minibikemulisha asked:

I have $15,000 in government student loans at 5.5%. They go back into repayment in 6 months. I’m just entering the work force and I’m thinking about doing a graduated repayment plan, it will rise as I make more and inflation rises. I have $20,000 saved in my bank account from work and saving. One friend of mine told me to use half of the $20,000 towards my loans before I consolidate making my loans at $5000, but that is money that didn’t come very easy for me and not very easy to make back since my income is currently low. Another friend told me to put my loans into repayment and invest my $20,000 I have saved and use my student loan interest tax write off to put towards taxes I have to pay from my investing. Use the money earned to pay my student loan monthly payments. I have no credit card debt, mortgage payments or any other debt besides a small car loan.

Any advice towards this situation would be great. If I should invest I’m open to investment advice, I’m not familiar with investing and I know the stock market is a mess at the moment. Thanks for your time.

Website content

It has been years since she was enrolled with them and dropped out without paying the remainder of the course.
Now all of a sudden they are hounding her for their money and offering settlements.
Since this isn’t a federal student loan or a bank loan, how long of a period has to elapse before they can start contacting her again? I think it’s been 7 or so years since she heard anything from them until now.

Create a video blog…instantly.

Josh asked:

I’m curious about attending community college. I currently work full time and am interested in finally going to school. Unfortunately I cannot even afford going to community college due to being weighed down with bills and credit debt that I am now paying off. I know if I went to National University I could get loans to pay for everything but not so sure how that works for a community college. I’m interested in doing all my general ed at Grossmont or Miramar College which would save me a LOT of money in the long run since its about $1500 per class at National and about $100 at community college. Does the government/banks even offer student loans for people to attend community college? Or should I just put this on the backburner for a couple more years?

government student loans

chelsy132 asked:

I have been in and out of the hospital and am unable to work , my husband makes over $55,000 a year but we are a family of 5 crammed into a 2 bedroom apt. He has student loans and bad credit from divorce. He had a home from his previous marriage, but I have never been a home owner. The question is how can we get out of this hole we are in and start moving on with our life? Iwant to try to be in a home b4 my 3 yr old son starts school.. because the schools where I currently live are unsatisfactory. we currently pay $650 a month in rent .. which is more than most of my friends house payments so I am wondering how do I get started trying to improve our situation and get into a home .. with $1,000 in debt each month and no way to possibly save for a down payment of any kind. We have paid our rent every month, that is one thing we do make sure gets paid . have been in and out of the hospital and am unable to work , though we have not asked or have been receiving any assistance what so ever. My conditions include spinal bone growths, organ failure and chronic pain , which makes it difficult to just care for my son and my 2 step sons (which are all under the age of 12), Since my doctors have told me I am physically unable to work right now options for going back to work are not really there. My husband works 12 hour days at his job, that he has held for over 7 years. We have 1 car( that is paid off). Our rent of $650 a month that we do pay does not include our utlities or anything else. Our phone bills, electric, cable, water all get paid as well and we have a good payment history with them as well. Our credit debt includes :my husbands government student loans, credit cards from his previous marriage, and one month of car insurance not paid by me after I went into the hospital.
we are looking for a home in the $50-$100k price range .. so that we can make our payments.

government student loans
